HELAYNE WALDMAN, HOLISTIC NUTRITION EDUCATOR, received her Ed.D. in Curriculum in 1994 and subsequently studied Nutrition at Bauman College in Berkeley, California.
Dr. Waldman made the move to nutrition education after losing her father to cancer and decided to specialize in breast cancer after losing her aunt and best fried to cancer as well. She opened her private practice in 2006 and has been serving breast cancer clients around the country for over seven years. Because of her solid background in Education, Helayne has also continued to teach both formally and informally at San Francisco State University, Helsinki Technical University, Mills College and currently at Hawthorn University , a school devoted exclusively to the study of Holistic Nutrition. She also teaches workshops locally in Oakland, California at Bay Area Breast Surgeon, Breast Cancer Connections, Women’s Cancer Resource Center, Kehilla Community Synagogue and other venues.
In 2012, with Edward Bauman MED. Ph.D., she wrote the The Whole Food Guide For Breast Cancer Survivors, (New Harbinger Publications) which in May of 2013 became the #1 bestseller on Amazon. Com in “nutrition for cancer prevention” and spent many days on the road in 2012-13 speaking to both small and large groups on the importance of sound nutritional assessment and planning to reduce the risk of occurrence and recurrence.
She is a regular contributor to both online and print publications such as GreenMedInfo, Breast Investigators, 4Wholeness.com, The Pink Paper and the Huffington Post. Helayne is also the producer, director of the DVDs Time For An Oil Change and Pre And Post Natal Yoga, a Board Member of the Annie Appleseed Project (Alternative and Complementary cancer treatment advocacy) and the Survivorship Committee at Summit Medical Center.
