BARRIE TAN, Ph.D. earned his Degree in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Otago, New Zealand and later became a Professor at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst teaching
Chemistry and Food Science/Nutrition. He has more than 25 years of research experience in lipid soluble vitamins with particular expertise in tocotrienols, tocopherols, carotenoids, cholesterol, CoQ10 and omega 3's.

Dr. Tan has commercialized natural carotenoids (lutein and zeaxanthin, alpha- and beta-carotene, lycopene) and was the first to introduce tocotrienol from palm, rice and annatto to our Nutrition Industry. He is the inventor of numerous tocotrienol extractions from natural sources and its application in product formulation and disease prevention.

Dr. Tan developed the first ever tocopherol-free tocotrienol product derived from annatto beans. The annatto plant originates from the Amazon rainforest and has been used since ancient times. The "tocopherol-free" aspect is very important, since research has shown that alpha-tocopherol interferes with the benefits of tocotrienol.

Dr. Tan has been involved in numerous trials on tocotrienols for cancer, prediabetes/diabetes, antioxidant potential and hypercholesterolemia. Of all the studies published on PubMed, tocotrienol in cancer prevention and treatment is most compelling. Also to his credit, he will be editing the second edition of a textbook called "Tocotrienols: Vitamin E Beyond
