JOHN FINK, AUTHOR, an actor by profession, obtained his B.A. Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and subsequently attended the Yale Drama School in New Haven, Connecticut. As an actor John worked extensively in theatre, film and television in the 60’s and 70’s, both in New York and Los Angeles. He devoted himself exclusively to health research in the late 70’s and 80’s but returned to acting several years ago and now does both.
His interest in Alternative Threrapies came as a result of his young daughter’s diagnosis of a rare form of cancer. Convinced that his daughter’s Alternative Program helped with the quality of her life, he set off to research the field. After being involved in the videotaping of the unprecedented Cancer Dialogue 80 in New York, he traveled in 1982 through Europe, Mexico, the Bahamas and North America looking at the major centers working with cancer.
He testified in 1985 on Alternative Therapies at Orrin Hatch’s U.S. Senate hearings on Health and Fitness in Washington, D.C. and in 1987 served as an Advisory Panel Member on the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment’s 3-year study on Unconventional Cancer Treatments.
John has served as a Board Member for both the International Association of Cancer Victors and Friends and the National Health Federation. He has been President of the Santa Barbara Chapter of Cancer Victors and Friends for the past 22 years.
John’s book Third Opinion, an International Directory to the Alternative Therapy Centers for the Treatment and Prevention of Cancer and Other Degenerative Diseases was published originally in 1988 and is the only comprehensive directory of its type. The completely revised fourth edition is just out
John will speak on Third Opinion – An Alternative Therapy Centers Directory.
